Today (January 1st, 2012), the Daily Mail reported that the Westlifesinger Mark Feehily has ended his seven year relationship with boyfriend Kevin MCDaid. On his Twitter feed, Feehily announced "Sadly, Kevin & I are no longer together. We've had an amazin 7 yrs & are both so thankful for the love & support u have shown us from the start." He went on to add that the pair would not be answering any questions about the end of their relationship.
The split comes after Mark Feehily told the Mirror newspaper in March 2011 that he and Kevin were planning to marry and eventually, to become parents. Mark and Kevin met at a charity concert in Dublin in 2005, though their relationship did not become public until 2007 when Mark Feehily revealed the details of his sexuality in an interview with the Sun newspaper. Both Mark and Kevin are singers - Mark is a member of the Irish boy band Westlife and Kevin was a member of the boy band V, before giving up his singing career to become a photographer.
Mark and Kevin are not the only high profile couple to have announced a break-up in recent days. Russell Brand and Katy Perry also revealed that they are seeking a divorce after 14 months of marriage.
