AN uncle of Westlife singer Shane Filan was found dead near his Kiltimagh home on St Stephen’s Day. The alarm was raised by an alert neighbour who noticed no light in the home of Billy McNicholas on Christmas Day night. A brief search located the body in a nearby shed where Mr McNicholas had taken ill and died suddenly while tending to his regular farming chores. He was in his mid-70s.
Removal takes place this Wednesday evening at 7.45pm from O’Hora’s Funeral Home to The Church of The Holy Family, Kiltimagh, arriving at 8 o’clock. Interment will be in Kilkinure cemetery on Thursday following the celebration of Requiem Mass at 12 noon.
Billy, who was predeceased by his brothers Joe, TJ and Stephen, is survived by his sisters May Filan (Sligo) and Kathleen Gilmartin (Donegal), nephews, nieces, in-laws, relatives, neighbours and friends.
