Westlife Fans Given The Chance To Go Online To Sing The Band's Greatest Hits

To celebrate the forthcoming release of the Westlife Greatest Hits album, Sony RCA has teamed-up with online vocal recording platform PureSolo (www.puresolo.com), to offer fans of the multi-million album-selling Irish band the opportunity to record their own versions of Westlife's best-loved songs, share their musical efforts online, and win unique prizes.

From 25th October until November 28th 2011, fans can visit www.puresolo.com/westlife-competition and download the original backing tracks for 5 of Westlife's most famous tracks: 'If I Let You Go' (1999), 'Flying Without Wings' (1999), 'Uptown Girl' (2001), 'Mandy' (2003), and their new release 'Lighthouse' (2011).

The best online fan recordings, as selected by Sony Music Executives, will receive prizes including two tickets to their Farewell Tour, a meet and greet with the boys, and a signed Greatest Hits disc.

John Thirkell, co-founder of PureSolo comments on the initiative: "This is a really exciting opportunity to celebrate the legacy of one of the most popular bands of the past decade. Though it is sad for fans that Westlife have announced 2012 will mark their farewell, this competition might help bring some new stars to national attention and see the baton passed to a new generation."

Formed in 1998, Westlife – consisting of Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan – are the only act in British and Irish music history to have had their first seven singles peak at number one. Westlife have sold over 44 million records worldwide. Westlife Greatest Hits is released on November 21st 2011.
