MANILA, Philippines – Star Magic artist Young JV was chosen to open the much-awaited show of Irish boy band Westlife here next week.
The concert will be held on September 29 (Thursday) at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
Young JV, whose real name is JV Kapunan, said there are two other Filipino acts who will open the show for Westlife.
“Siyempre super honored at saka excited na magpe-perform [ako for] Westlife. Parang they are one of the biggest bands in the world,” he told abs-cbnNEWS.com on Tuesday.
Westlife is the group behind the hits “Swear It Again,” “Flying Without Wings,” “If I Let You Go” and “Unbreakable.”
The boy band also became popular for its cover version of “Uptown Girl.”
Kapunan, meanwhile, is also part of A-Pop, a boy group featured in ABS-CBN variety show “ASAP Rocks.”
Last year, he bagged the Best New Male Recording Artist award at the 23rd Awit Awards for his song “That Girl.”
He is currently gearing up for his second album.
