Westlife coming to the Keepmoat

POP sensations Westlife will stage one of the biggest concerts Doncaster has ever seen with plans for a summer date at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The Irish heart-throbs are scheduled to play an outdoor date on July 30 - and fans of the multi-million selling quartet are set to descend on the town in their thousands.

The band - Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan - have racked up 14 number one singles and seven number one albums in a career spanning 13 years. They will be following in the footsteps of Sir Elton John, Canadian rocker Bryan Adams and fellow boy band sensations McFly who have all appeared at the Keepmoat in recent years.

Tickets will go on sale from 9am on May 3, priced at £35 through the box office on 01302 762576, via the website at www.keepmoatstadium.com and through ticket agencies Ticketmaster and Seetickets

Paul O’Grady’s back with a stellar line up of stars ready to join him on the brand new series of his popular entertainment show Paul O’Grady Live.

With his blend of warmth, wit and humour, the award winning presenter invites ‘A’ list celebrities as well as home grown stars to join him as he unleashes his unique brand of mayhem and mischief live in front of a studio audience.

The dare devil host will also attempting some bizarre and hilarious stunts much to the amusement of his guests and the viewers!

Joining Paul tonight are award winning writer and comedian Matt Lucas, Coronation Street favourite Katherine Kelly, theatre star Michael Ball and chart toppers Westlife.

Paul O’Grady says: “I'm really looking forward to being back behind my desk!! We've got some fabulous guests lined up and I'll be having a good gossip and getting up to my usual antics!”

He continues: “The reason I love doing the show so much is because I'm a nosey so-and-so and it's always a joy to meet someone you've always really wanted to meet and you're thinking – Ooh, I'm dying to chat to this one. Especially when you've grown up with these people, because they are so familiar to you, they're like one of the family. And I still get ridiculously over-excited when I meet my heroes. The first time I met Barbara Knox I went to pieces. I can't help it. It took me five years to persuade her to come on so that was a dream come to true to interview her last year. It was the same with Bette Midler because I'm a huge fan. I mean, aren't I a lucky old so-and-so really?”

Jedward Leave Westlife's After Party!

By rock'n'roll standards, Westlife after- show parties are pretty tame affairs. But for two young men hoping to emulate, if not eclipse, the band's success, one such party in London in march was still all too much.

The Westlife lads were chilling out with their entourage having just completed one of three London dates on their current Gravity Tour. In London at the time were 19-yea-old twins John and Edward Grimes, whose manager Louis Walsh also manages Westlife.

The Grimes boys turned up at the party and, having said their hellos, insisted on leaving. Because the Grimes not only don't drink, they're not comfortable around people who are drinking.

Michael McIntyre Has Pop At Louis Walsh

BRITAIN’s Got Talent guest judge Louis Walsh was left seething after Michael McIntyre gave him advice on how to manage Westlife.

Irish pop guru Louis Walsh, who has guided the boyband to 14 No 1 singles, was astonished when comic Michael McIntyre told him his lads needed to change their style.

The pair fell out when Louis joined Michael and fellow judge Amanda Holden on the Britain’s Got Talent panel as a temporary replacement for US actor David Hasselhoff, 58.

Michael, 34, told Louis at one of the London BGT auditions: “Westlife, they are a bit serious aren’t they? Are they that emotional?

“Why don’t you do an up-tempo number with them?

“Sometimes you’ve got to take a risk, Louis.”

Walsh, 58, who has managed Westlife for 13 years, snapped back: “We have done up-tempo numbers and taken risks.

“But ballads work.”

And last night Louis blasted: “I don’t think Westlife need Michael’s help. But if he’s going into the pop business, I’ll get out my joke book and become a comedian.”

The pair, along with Amanda, 40, will be seen on tonight’s ITV1 show passing verdicts on the latest batch of wannabes.

They include a 12-year-old lad called Ronan who wows the panel singing Michael Bublé’s Feeling Good.

There’s also a 50-year-old artist called Anthony who paints with his pants, double act Darth Dongle And The Princess doing a Jacko dance, and the Underground Dance Company who dress up as Edward Scissorhands.

Other acts include a Taekwondo trio called TKD Remix and a seven-year-old girl called Olivia who reads poetry with a snake wrapped around her neck.

Britain’s Got Talent is on ITV1 tonight at 8.00.
